CIPTC ‘Foreign Wanderers’ Football Team Match Report

10.11.2018

CIPTC ‘Foreign Wanderers’ 8 – 2 Haida Teaching Company

On a warm Saturday afternoon CIPTC played off against Haida in a rematch of the company’s first ever game as a football team.

CIPTC got off to a strong and positive start taking a well – earned lead after 12 minutes with Hillary Snedeker scoring her first goal for the team.

Things got even better for ‘The Wanderers’ when both Luke Short and Tom Lewis claimed a goal each putting the team 3 – 0 up after 23 minutes.
Haida then sneaked a goal back keeping the game on a knife edge as both teams went into the first break.

[1st third: CIPTC 3 – 1 Haida]

‘The Wanderers’ flew out strong in the second third and claimed another goal through JT breaking into the area and slotting the ball home.

The game then became very niggly with Haida coming stronger as the half went on. Haida then took advantage of this pressure by making it 4 – 2 through a set play. Things would have got even better for Haida had it not been for ‘The Wanderers’ goalkeeper, Jack RB, producing a camera save in the dying minutes to keep the game at 4 – 2 going into the final third.

[2nd third: CIPTC 4 – 2 Haida]

Coming into the final third, CIPTC went up another gear displaying great teamwork and commitment to bring the game home. Following a neat passage of play JT received the ball in the box striking it past the goalkeeper to make it 5 – 2. CIPTC continued to grow in confidence passing and moving the ball nicely around the field. Against the run of play, however, Haida claimed another goal back to make it 5 – 3 with 15 minutes to play.

Again, CIPTC rose up from this disappointed going right back at Haida and making the game 6 – 3 with 10 minutes to play – JT claiming his 3rd goal of the game. From here CIPTC never looked back and scored another two goals in the final 10 minutes through Matt Hunt and Hodifa Al Ghiryani to bring the win home.

[Full Time: CIPTC 8 – 3 Haida]

Overall, this was a fantastic performance by the team and shows how far they have progressed in 6 months.

‘The Wanderers’ would like to thank all those who came to watch the game as well as those who have supported and helped us on along the journey so far and into the future.
