CIPTC ‘Foreign WanderersFootball Team Match Report

May 30th 2019

Another month means another busy schedule completed by the CIPTC Foreign Wanderers.

Unlike previous months ‘The Wanderers’ focused on training after finally finding a venue they could use regularly. These sessions focused on match fitness, technical ball work and overall teamwork. Although each training session was basked in the hot afternoon sun ‘The Wanderers’ battled though the heat in an enjoyable hardworking setting.

‘The Wanderers’ only game of the month took place on Wednesday May 15th in their third match of the year vs Shenzhen Liverpool Supporters Football Club. With The Foreign Wanderers going into the game undefeated from the previous two encounters, Shenzhen Liverpool were desperate to win and up for the game from minute one. Shenzhen Liverpool took advantage of ‘The Wanderers’ difficult pre - match preparations taking a deserved lead inside the first five minutes of the game. This finally helped ‘The Wanderers’ wake up and found themselves back in the game five minutes later with Ryan Shaw scoring off a Matthew James - Pennells assist. The game then became a very even battle with ‘The Wanderers’ allowing Shenzhen Liverpool to have plenty of the ball but then taking advantage of the counter attacking opportunities.
The game then changed in the final third. With Shenzhen Liverpool desperate to win the half appeared to go on forever with ‘The Wanderers’ unsure what was happening. Then, around the tenth minute of additional time the team moved the ball upfield before Matthew James - Pennells crossed the ball to Hoodifa Alghyranito score the winning goal. Still the game continued with Daniel Milner blocking a shot on the line before Shenzhen Liverpool hit the post. Finally, after twenty minutes of additional time the referee blew the final whistle.

During the month ‘The Wanderers’ also had two social events as both Matthew Meloy’s And Daniel Milner’s bands performed gigs around Shenzhen. Matthew Meloy’s Lips McKenzie’s performed at The Brew on May 11th whilst Daniel Milner’s new band, Ravens of Mortis played their first ever gig at Brown Sugar Jar on May 25th. As always both socials were good fun with both bands performing energetic shows.

As always with the team, this was another busy month but also another enjoyable and successful one.
